After Hurricane Matthew

October 5, 2016

Earlier this week, Haiti was facing Hurricane Matthew.

Today we are assessing the impact of the Hurricane on the communities supported by KANPE at Savanette Cabral and Baille Tourible. For now, it seems that the Hurricane did not cause too much material damage in this geographical area of the Central Plateau.

Nevertheless, we must be particularly mindful of a potential resurgence of cholera and other diseases, such as malaria. Indeed, heavy rains associated with the hurricane and flooding rivers are factors favoring the spread of many diseases.

We remain particularly concerned about the inhabitants of the Southwest of the country (including the southern departments of Grand’Anse, Nippes and Sud’Est) that have been hit hard by Matthew and that are in a humanitarian emergency situation. For those who want to bring emergency aid to these populations, please make donations to organizations that provide humanitarian assistance such as:

We invite you to watch our news on social networks (Twitter, Facebook) in the coming weeks.

Mèsi for your support!
