Cholera is still present in Haiti

August 26, 2016

Last week, the United Nations (UN) acknowledged responsibility for its role in cholera’s return to ravage Haiti in 2010.

In 2011, this epidemic prompted KANPE’s decision to set up in the Baille Tourible region, where an outbreak had struck the community. In partnership with Zanmi Lasante, a clinic offering free healthcare to the sick was rapidly established, beating back the bacteria in only a few months.

Cholera still has not been chased from Haiti. Since 2011 the clinic has helped to care for 1,449 patients, with even 78 more cases treated this year.
