A Glimpse at KANPE’s Second Kanaval

May 12, 2014

The KANPE Kanaval – the Foundation’s second annual fundraising event – welcomed more than 300 guests this past February 22nd, who joined a carnavalesque celebration to warm up with some Barbancourt Rhum, dance to the rhythms of musicians – including the world-famous Haitian group Boukman Esperyans – and help raise funds for the Foundation’s field operations. Among the guests of the evening were Andrew Molson, Honorary President, Herby Moreau, MC, Dany Laferrière, member of the Académie française as well as various media personalities, from Éric Salvail to Isabelle Racicot.

Benefiting from visibility as part of the Festival Montréal en Lumière, KANPE achieved its financial goals in order to launch “KANPE 2.0”. As part of the Festival’s program, the event received considerable press coverage, helping to raise awareness about the Foundation’s mission. Régine Chassagne, KANPE Co-Founder and Spokesperson of the 15th edition of the Festival, gave radio interviews to Paul Arcand and Catherine Perrin, and also appeared in La Presse, The Gazette, and Le Journal de Montreal newspapers, to name a few.

KANPE would like to express its sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the Kanaval, helping work toward breaking the cycle of poverty in Haiti.
