Cirque du Soleil supports the KANPE summer camp in Haiti

August 4, 2017

For the second edition of the KANPE summer camp in Haiti, the Foundation is pleased to announce the support of Cirque du Soleil*, through its program Cirque du Monde*.

The event, which will take place from August 6th to 15th, will enable 94 young people from the Central Plateau in Haiti to participate in a summer camp where the objectives are to boost their self-confidence, social engagement and leadership.

For 10 days, young people from Baille Tourible and from Savanette Cabral and Thomonde will have the opportunity to meet speakers and trainers from different backgrounds. Thanks to these convenors, young Haitians trained by Cirque du Monde will be able to teach circus arts to their even younger peers.

Emphasis will be placed on agricultural techniques, but the young participants will also have the opportunity to acquire know-how in areas such as music, crafts, first aid, water purification, the prevention of infectious diseases… and the circus arts! On this occasion, an instructor from Cirque du Soleil and two Haitian instructors from Cirque du Monde will be on hand to introduce them.

The summer camp is also an opportunity for these young people to put universal values such as respect, collaboration, inclusivity, equality, solidarity and responsibility into practice. By accompanying adolescents, KANPE focuses on youth to support the community of the future towards their financial autonomy.

KANPE greatly thanks Cirque du Soleil and the Cirque du Monde program team for their support and looks forward to this beautiful collaboration.
