KANPE is 10 Years Old!

May 12, 2020

Ten years ago today, the members of our Board of Directors signed letters patent formalizing the birth of The KANPE Foundation with the mission to bring support to the most vulnerable communities in Haiti to help them achieve autonomy.

What a long way since we started our activities in Baille Tourible (Central Plateau) through 6 pillars: health and nutrition, education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, leadership and infrastructure strengthening.

Today, thanks to the clinic that we have set up, in collaboration with our partner in the field Zanmi Lasante/Partners in Health*, Baille Tourible is better equipped to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Open since 2011, the health clinic offers care and prevention services to over 17,000 people in Baille Tourible and the surrounding communities. The health clinic in Baille Tourible was a regional leader in the containment of the cholera epidemic that devastated Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake. Over 1,700 cases were treated in the clinic and no cases have been detected since January 2018.

Health is part of an integrated approach that has enabled us to see an entire community taking the path towards autonomy, whether through the revival of agriculture, the strengthening of education, improvement of infrastructure, or the emergence of a young generation full of ambitions and projects for their community.
