Microcredit: A Path to Entrepreneurship and Prosperity

March 6, 2025

While the most disadvantaged populations are those in greatest need of financial support, access to credit remains a major obstacle. Aware of this reality, KANPE launched a microcredit program in 2022, bringing tangible change to the lives of women in Baille Tourible. With tailored loans, they can now develop their businesses and gain financial independence.

Today, the program has reached its fifth cycle and boasts an outstanding repayment rate nearing 100%. More than 500 loans have already been granted, helping to boost the local economy. Recovered funds are directly reinvested to issue new loans and support community projects.

But this program goes beyond access to credit. Beneficiaries receive financial management and entrepreneurship training to maximize their businesses’ profitability. Additionally, local women’s associations have launched their own credit initiatives, fostering greater solidarity and financial stability within the community.

Through microcredit, women in Baille Tourible are becoming key players in their region’s economic development. They invest in livestock, agriculture, and trade, securing a more stable future for their families and strengthening their communities.
