World Food Day with COVID-19 in the background
For most of us, eating is just a routine. For many vulnerable communities like the one we support in the Plateau Central in Haiti, putting a meal on the table is a daily challenge.
On World Food Day, we reiterate the importance of continuing to support the most vulnerable communities so that they can have enough to eat at all times. Aware of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on food security, we have strengthened our agricultural programs. By helping our beneficiaries to set up subsistence gardens, they can produce vegetables and other foodstuffs.
The recent Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the World Food Programme reminds us how important the fight against food insecurity is because in the most vulnerable communities the pandemic threatens both health and food security
