April 12, 2024

THE KANPE FOUNDATION

In Haitian Creole, “kanpe” means to stand up.

The KANPE Foundation was founded by strong, successful women of the Haitian diaspora in  Canada. Régine Chassagne is the co-founder of the internationally renowned band Arcade Fire, and Dominique Anglade is a prominent business and academic leader in Quebec.

KANPE is a foundation that accompanies underserved rural communities in Haiti on their path towards autonomy.

We work in Haiti’s Central Plateau in collaboration with strong local Haitian organizations that bring skills, knowledge, tools, and training to accompany communities on their path towards autonomy.

Together, we focus on six holistic and integrated pillars: access to healthcare, education, agroforestry, entrepreneurship, leadership, and local infrastructure strengthening.
