We believe that the full participation of women and girls in development, leadership, and decision-making is essential to building strong and resilient communities. In rural communities in Haiti, women face major challenges: food insecurity, extreme poverty, limited access to education and healthcare, as well as increased exposure to gender-based violence, early marriage, and teenage pregnancy.
Putting Women and Girls
at the Center of Everything
We Do
Investing in women changes everything
- When women are healthy and educated, they generate income, create economic opportunities, and reinvest 90% of their earnings in their families (compared to 35% for men).
- Just a 1% increase in the number of women completing secondary education leads to 0.3% economic growth.
- Women with access to agricultural training increase their incomes by an average of 61% and strengthen their resilience to natural disasters.
Our actions
- Strengthening economic autonomy: KANPE supports women through microcredit programs, seed banks, and income-generating activities. These initiatives allow women to launch, develop, and secure their businesses, particularly in agriculture, livestock, and small-scale commerce.
- Developing female leadership: We work with three women’s associations and a local federation in Baille Tourible, offering training in governance, organizational management, and participatory leadership. Women are encouraged to take decision-making roles and lead collective projects.
- Creating safe and inclusive spaces: KANPE provides dedicated spaces for women to share, learn, and support each other. These initiatives include sexual and reproductive health, protection, and well-being programs to strengthen women’s agency and confidence.
Our impact
- Economically empowered women: Women increase their incomes, diversify activities, and gain economic stability, directly contributing to food security and family well-being.
- Strengthened female leadership: Women play central roles in local associations, actively participate in decision-making, and become role models for future generations.
- More resilient communities: By supporting women, KANPE strengthens collective capacities; local initiatives are better organized, more inclusive, and sustainably led by the community.
By investing in women, KANPE contributes to family financial security, improved living conditions, and a more dynamic local economy. The result: stronger families, more resilient children, and thriving communities.
