A Place to Learn, Gather, and Take Action
In Baille Tourible, ideas, talent, and the will to act have always been present. What was missing was a place—a shared space, open to everyone, where people could learn, train, meet, and build sustainable solutions together. This is how KANPE’s Community Oasis project was born.
Designed as the beating heart of the community, the Oasis is much more than a building. It is a living space where education, leadership, entrepreneurship, culture, and civic engagement intersect. It provides a safe environment for children after school, a gathering point for women entrepreneurs, a training hub for young leaders, and a community centre open to all.
The Oasis will house a media library equipped with Internet-connected computers, giving youth and adults access to information, digital learning, and educational resources often out of reach in rural areas. A library will complement this space, fostering a love of reading, self-directed learning, and the transmission of knowledge.
Over the years, KANPE has supported the creation of strong initiatives in Baille Tourible: a sustained school, a proud community band, structured women’s associations, and locally led agricultural and environmental projects. The Community Oasis now brings them together, providing a shared anchor and amplifying their impact.
The Oasis includes classrooms and meeting spaces for training and association work, areas dedicated to women and youth, and open zones for cultural, educational, and community activities. In the longer term, the Oasis will evolve to host a vocational school, strengthening access to technical and practical skills tailored to local realities and economic opportunities.
Like the community band, the Oasis rests on a simple belief: when communities have a space of their own, they organize, innovate, and take control of their future. In Baille Tourible, the Oasis becomes a key support point where autonomy is built collectively, day by day.The Community Oasis is a space where rural communities are not just supported—they are fully empowered to drive their own development.
