The development of rural communities relies on committed and well-equipped leaders. KANPE invests in local leadership by supporting women, youth, and community actors to become catalysts for change.
Our Actions
In Haiti’s rural communities, local leaders play a key role in development, yet they often lack access to training, external expertise, and tools to structure their initiatives and ensure sustainability. KANPE strengthens community leadership through:
- Supporting local leaders: We work with around ten community organizations (including three women’s associations, a youth leadership committee, and the Baille Tourible fanfare) to structure initiatives and maximize impact.
- Training in governance and participatory leadership: Workshops in organizational management, governance, and collective decision-making help local organizations plan effectively, manage resources, and gain credibility.
- Empowering women and youth as change-makers: KANPE supports youth-led initiatives, especially by girls, fostering informed decision-making, skill development, and ownership of projects that matter to them.
- Leadership through action: Cultural, agricultural, and community initiatives provide hands-on opportunities for leadership to grow through engagement, responsibility, and collective practice.
