In Baille Tourible, March 8 is never a day like any other. Each year, the community gathers to celebrate women, recognize their contributions, and share a moment of collective pride. Once again this year, International Women’s Day was marked by a series of activities that brought together celebration, learning, and community spirit.

From the morning on, the atmosphere was festive. To the sound of the marching band, a parade moved through the community, bringing together women, families, and local leaders in a moment of joy and solidarity. Laughter, music, and lively conversations set the tone for this day dedicated to those who, every day, contribute to the development of Baille Tourible.

The day then continued with a training session on the microcredit program, an initiative that enables many women to grow their economic activities and support their families. The session provided an opportunity to review how the program works and to exchange directly with participants.

Beneficiaries also had the chance to ask questions and share their experiences, creating a valuable space for dialogue around both the challenges and successes related to microcredit.

A particularly inspiring moment came from the remarks of Ms. Aliette St Feur, program coordinator at Sere pou Chofe (“Save to Move Forward”), who shared several stories highlighting the successes of women who have benefited from the program.

The celebration concluded in the gardens of the KANPE House, where a meal was shared in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Through conversations, laughter, and moments of relaxation, the community took time to savor this special day.

In Baille Tourible, March 8 is much more than a commemoration. It is a moment to recognize women’s leadership, celebrate their achievements, and continue building—together—a stronger and more united community.
